Bits

A few weeks back, Horner and Megan went to Jingle Cross Rock . Todd Wells had a nice write up about the race and photo of he and Chris signing autographs. Thanks, Todd!

Click here for Todd's write up!

A bunch of photos from the team's great season will be posted shortly!

Nationals

Nationals had a bit of a change of unexpected plans. Upon arriving to KC, I received word that Chris was in the hospital. I'm sure you've heard, but Chris had an emergency appendectomy Saturday evening. Thankfully he is fine and this happened while not on the bike or traveling.

The long and short of it all...
Chris arrives Friday night, doesn't sleep because he's not feeling well and experiencing what he thought was lower abdominal pain. Goes to the hospital, they admit him, do some tests and realize he need his appendix removed. He spends the night in the hospital, released Sunday night and flies home Monday morning to Bend, OR. That was his experience for Nationals! Chris was extremely disappointed that he couldn't race, especially after I showed him photos and video clips from the race.

Megan was on hand to represent IRMC and raced extremely well. With the course lined with large crowds and the conditions being mud, snow and deceivingly deep frozen mud ruts, racing was a task at hand. Several riders would be racing and would have there wheels slide out as if some one pulled the rug out from underneath them. Megan stayed up right the entire race and was able to make nice ground. It is also nice to repeatedly hear over the loud speaker, "Here comes Megan Elliot of Indiana Regional Medical Center".

Portland

This was the Portland USGP.
Craig prepping for the race in the hotel room. Things get a bit hectic in the room when you have bikes, a whole mess load of wheel sets, bike stand, tools and your own luggage. It's a whole lot of fun, though. Thanks to PEDROS for the awesome repair stand and tools!

So Far

Portland, Day 1...The crowds were huge, so were the gusts of wind and rain! With rain, wind and mud, this was a hard day of racing with several crashes. It was great to see the crowds turn out to and show great enthusiasm for the racers.

Below is a shot from the race posted on Velonews where you can see Horner cresting the top of the short hill lined with fans.

Some brief word of mouth results from the MidAtlantic Carlisle Cross Classic

Stephan was 10th, Steevo 11th and Bill 12th. Full race reports to come.

Thanksgiving Recap!

I received this Thanksgiving weekend race recap from Bill Elliston...Thanks, BIll and good job!

"Yo Ed-

Quick weekend race update:

Saturday:
Bay State Cross, Stirling, Mass. New England Championship Series Round 5; UCI C2
15th place

Lousy last row start of 40-odd starters. Felt pretty good and got through some traffic to a group of 12, right to the front of that and split it into a group of 4. Stayed like that til we got caught by Jeremy Powers when we were on 2 to go. (lap times were 6 and change; shorter than what they are supposed to be for UCI races) Took the sprint from the group.

Sunday:
NJ Cross Championships, Augusta,NJ
1st place
Went away on first lap w/ one other guy, Aaron Oakes (Van Dessel), stayed clear til finish. Some attacking last lap, smoked him in sprint for win.

Next week: Carlisle, Pa UCI C2 on Saturday; Capitol Cross, Reston, Va, UCI C2 on Sunday."

Chris and Megan made the trip from Bend, OR, while, Bill and Stephan made the trip up from Eastern PA. Steevo was unable to make the trip out this weekend, which I'll expand upon at a later time.

Team Kits

Thanks to Jim and everyone else at Voler' for making the great team clothing. They look fantastic and everyone has positive comments when seeing the kits.

Welcome

Welcome to the Ed Krall Racing blog. There is lots to catch up on, but I'll start with the basics. Below is the run down on the team, riders and sponsors. This is the press release that was posted on cyclingnews, cyclocrossworld & other various sites.

Ed Krall Racing is proud to present the Indiana Regional Medical Center Cyclocross Team, based in Western Pennsylvania but competing in events throughout the United States . This is the team’s first year, but it has targeted the US Grand Prix series and plans on being a factor in each of the six national races.

For the 2007 cyclocross season, the team will feature Chris Horner ( Bend , OR ), Megan Elliot ( Bend , OR ), Stephan Kincaid ( Pottstown , PA ), Bill Elliston ( Easton , PA ), and Steevo Cummings ( Pittsburgh , PA ). The team will be managed by Ed Krall and Craig Merrits will lead the team’s pit crew. With this impressive lineup, the Indiana Regional Medical Center Cyclocross team anticipates a successful racing season.

In the 2006 cyclocross season, the team’s current racers managed a number of victories and high placings. With increased support, the team members look forward to even greater success in 2007.
